Mouwal is a venture started by two friends, a physician and an engineer, after they were nostalgic for ‘Wazwan’, a multi-course Kashmiri cuisine. Although you could find canned wazwan with some difficulty, but there was nothing available as far as fresh, authentic wazwan was concerned. It took them two years of countless hours of research and several trips to Kashmir to master the recipe and also the art of cooking from the master chefs (wazas) themselves. The result of this hard work, effort and passion lead to Mouwal.com.
There was one pact these friends made when they started Mouwal—there would never be any compromise on the quality of food. At Mouwal.com, we use the choicest Halal lamb and chicken. The wazwan is made of a 600-old, largely unchanged recipe right from the far-east roots. The food is made hygienically in our factory in Midwest. 5% of our proceeds go toward various charities to stop hunger back home in the valley of Kashmir. The plan is to set up a self-sustaining organization to erase hunger from Kashmir and worldwide.
